House of Tolerance – Film Review

The film stays within the walls, creating a sense of rich-coloured claustrophobia for the girls and the audience. This is made particular use of in their one day out, when the colours become vibrant citrus and you share their sense of release as they frolic and take the piss out of their clients

Helen Gorrill will also be showing contemporary drawings that deconstruct the Virgin and female submissiveness, using the female form and biblical text. Gorrill’s visually confrontational works use a striking aesthetic drawing on post-feminist concepts of power and control, and investigating enforcement, reinforcement and reactions to patriarchal society, to display stunning imagery of the female form.
